A yuukata is a type of garment worn in japan, that started out as a bathrobe, but now is worn sometimes in summer. It is something that is worn to less formal events such as summer festivals, and in recent years is made of cotton.
In this pattern I've opted to go for an "Easy obi" style which is normally worn by children, and includes velcro (think like a clip on tie) to make it easier to put on and take off the clothing.
